    Integrating a Client’s Spirituality
    or Religion Into Their Psychotherapy
    for Best Clinical Outcomes

    May 14, 2021
    9:45 am - 11:45 am

    Presented by:

    Richard Litvak, LMFT

    1.5 CEUs

According to research, Spirituality or Religion is important to 77% of Americans. In addition the majority of psychotherapy clients indicate they want their Spirituality or Religion brought into their therapy. By contrast, only 25% of psychotherapy graduate programs offer training in how to integrate the client’s Spirituality or Religion into their therapy for best therapeutic outcomes. It’s not surprising that only a third of therapists report feeling comfortable and confident to do so. A significant body of research now establishes that integrating the client's Spirituality or Religion into their therapy can contribute to the reaching of therapeutic goals.

This session will introduce key components for integrating the Client’s Spirituality or Religion, Into Their Therapy for Best Psychotherapeutic Outcomes.

A brief history of the relationship between Spirituality, Religion and Psychotherapy will be provided. And we will explore Best Practices on how to conduct an assessment of a Client’s Spirituality or  Religious Beliefs and Practices.

As a result of attending this session, participants will be able to:

    • Define Spirituality and Religion and list ways they differ.
    • Describe five components for successful integration of a client's Spirituality or Religion into their therapy.
